I meant to upload these awhile ago, but alas, well, I didn’t. I’ve said before how much I love seeing different interpretations in fashion editorials. This here comes from Dear Creatures‘ Spring 2010 catalogue. Can you guess what film inspired it? I made these funny images to try and emphasise a point about the film.

What film do you think it is?!!

Did you guess it? Dear Creatures’ Spring 2010 collection was influenced by none other than Jacques Demy‘s film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. I love how this editorial picked up on the film’s ingenuity of matching one’s outfit to the wallpaper. Check out the Dear Creatures Spring 2010 collection HERE and I note that 80s Purple is still selling some of the featured pieces right HERE.

I think of all the “fashion films” out there, Almost Famous is one of the most commonly mentioned. In fact, I doubt that it’s essential that I even post screenshots (although I shall happily on request!) for you to recognise the “look”. This year’s (Northern Hemisphere) spring editorials have a major 70s sensibility. I love it!

I’ve always had a strong affinity with that rock n’roll mood. Even though I’ve become far more “girly” in the past couple years, I still prefer to throw a shrug, tassles, massive rings, messy hair and maximum prints on maxi skirts into the mix. I think when you come from a boring standard, white, middle class background, it’s about as edgy and cool as you can get. Yeh!

These are some fresh editorial prints from Australia’s Marie Claire’s April edition named after the film that needs no introduction, Almost Famous.

Diane K doing Vogue

Vogue Paris, Sep 2009. Photographed: Mikael Jansson. Styled: Anastasia Barbieri

As I mentioned in this post, I just love finding fashion editorials based on films. In 2009 Annie Hall seemed to be all the rage. This Vogue Paris is a lovely homage to Diane Keaton‘s sense of style with so many appealing looks. Here are some of my selected favourites:

I ADORE the above look. I would comfortably wear this. Don’t you love the hat and glasses?

Have you also noticed the current refreshing array of pants on offer in the Spring looks of the Northern Hemisphere? (lucky all of you!) I am TOTALLY inspired to ditch my denim. The Annie Hall look never dies and is a fantastic movie in itself. Double hit of inspiration!!
