I’d be surprised if there is anyone out there who reads fashion blogs that hasn’t seen Almost Famous. It seems to have an iconic top spot as a fashionable film. I covered a Marie Claire editorial based on the film here. Over the last month I have noted the unrelenting 1970s references in both High Fashion and on the High Street. Flares, paisley, floppy hats, tassels, waist coats, clogs, PLATFORMS (everywhere!!) and Coachella.
I doubt Almost Famous needs any description of the narrative. The young lad that meets Penny Lane, the playful wanderer played by Kate Hudson on a writing assignment for Rolling Stone magazine. On the tour bus with a bunch of groupies he embarks on the ol’ journey of self discovery. A great wardrobe and a great soundtrack. I suggest it might be worth taking another look if you are loving these 70s fashion flavours of late. Prepare for imagery overload!
